Juliett Rowe: The Magic Behind the Music
When a band gets up on stage, playing their music to a rapt audience, the experience is electrifying. For many people, that’s what they envision when they think of a music career. But in reality, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. No one knows that better than Juliett Rowe, digital marketing and project coordinator for Madison Records. There’s a lot that goes into making a successful music career, or even a well-respected record label, and one of the very important parts of that success is a good marketing strategy. And not only does that mean putting out advertisements for upcoming tours and scheduling radio interviews, in this day and age a successful musician has to cultivate a constant online presence, managing multiple online platforms, to build a relationship with their fan base and grow their career.
For Madison Records, that meant teaming up with Juliett to get an expert to help manage the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing that makes up the music world of today. Juliett came to Madison Records two years ago, after a long and somewhat varied career within the music industry. “I’m thrilled to work with Madison Records. Being able to work with a legend like Tony Lewis to newer artists like Forrest Isn’t Dead and Like Machines, keeps me inspired and motivated. These artists are so talented and I want to do all that I can to help them succeed.”
Before coming to Madison Records Juliett worked at Blood Drunk Records, where she released albums from a group of bands in the punk and alt-rock categories. She’s also an artist manager and has experience doing everything from writing about the local music scene to putting on her own events like the Atlanta Record Label Fest (2015-16).
A Peak Into Juliett’s World
Now her talents are put to good use getting the word out about Madison Studios and all the great talent working with Madison Records. Juliett’s day to day activities could include a multitude of different things, from optimizing the social media platforms and websites of all Madison Records’ artists to lining up photo shoots and heading up special projects. “Juliett continually pays attention to the small details that would otherwise slip through the cracks, and she helps me and the rest of the team envision the next chapters for Madison Records,” says Tanner Hendon, owner. “It’s not ‘sexy’ all the time, but it’s the things that keep us on the right track.”
One of Juliett’s special talents is her depth of knowledge of Spotify and other digital service providers. She pays meticulous attention to the digital profiles of all Madison Records’ artists, taking advantage of some things she’s learned over the years to help get their songs in front of the right audience, while at the same time cleaning up data errors as needed.
Juliett also works with Madison Records’ artists to talk out their marketing strategies, formulate ideas and make plans so they have a clear goal for all their promotions, from new music coming out to concert dates and tours.
Staying in the Know
Things are changing at lightening speed in the world of music marketing, but the team at Madison Records knows Juliett has what it takes to stay on top of the changes and keep our team moving forward. “Through the years I’ve gotten to know a lot of people in the industry, and I take time to talk with my colleagues to stay up on the latest news and marketing strategies,” Juliett says. She also does plenty of her own research, taking online classes, reading articles, and learning from industry experts. “One of the great things about Tanner is he’s willing to experiment, which is great when it comes to social media and digital marketing,” Juliett says. “A lot of what you learn from the most comes from trial and error, and I'm lucky he's willing to take the risk and try new things.”
