Fans of hard rock have a new group to follow, The Wheelblocks, featuring Chris Jericho. It’s always exciting when a group of experienced and talented musicians get together, and The Wheelblocks do not disappoint!
“Even during the middle of a pandemic, you can’t keep great music from happening,” says Jericho. “I had the honor of getting together with some amazing muscians to play a cover of one of my favorite band’s best songs, Iron Maiden’s ‘Aces High.’”.
The Wheelblocks talent includes:
Chris Jericho, vocals (Fozzy)
Nita Strauss, guitar (current touring guitarist for Alice Cooper and successful soloist)
Phil Demmel, guitar (Machine Head)
Johnny Christ, bass (Avenged Sevenfold)
Josh V, drummer (Three 6 Mafia)
The energy this band brings to their music is infectious, as seen in the music video shot in true pandemic style, from homes in various locations and even an airplane to really set the scene. “’Aces High’ is not only one of the hardest vocals I’ve ever had the pleasure of singing in the studio, they were even harder to record while I was flying in a fighter plane!” Jericho says. “As a result, I think the power of this song fits perfectly into the hard rock world of today and I’m excited to see it fly as high up the charts as the protagonist in the song itself.”
In addition to challenging vocals, the song is rife with great solos from each band member. Each artist brings their individual talent and a certain attitude and swagger to give this cover a lot of enthusiasm and personality.
If Wheelblocks doesn’t give you enough of Chris Jericho’s infectious personality, there’s plenty more where that came from. Established as a world-renowned wrestler, first with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and now with All Elite Wrestling, (AEW, Jericho is lead singer of the rock band Fozzy, which will be releasing its eighth full-length album in the spring of 2021. Most recently he fronted the Kiss cover band Kuarantine, released on Madison Records. Kuarantine’s debut song currently sits at #36 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart. He’s also the host of the podcast “Talk Is Jericho” and the radio show “The Rock of Jericho” on SiriusXM Octane, and runs the entertainment news site, Web Is Jericho.
